The Center for Forest and Wood Certification has programs to assist family, industry, and public forest owners in the Center's service area including Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, West Virginia, and Virginia.
Family Forest Woodland Owners
To decrease certification costs and improve the benefits you receive from certification, your Forest Stewardship Council® and American Tree Farm System® certification is handled under the Center's group certificates. As a Family Forest Owner participant the Center provides opportunities for potential income enhancement associated with certification including timber, non-timber, and ecosystem services markets. Participants agree to management assistance by selecting one of the Center's Cooperating Foresters to aid them in developing a management plan that meets the Center's standards for certification. Inventory and a management plan that meets the Center's standards and is Forest Stewardship Council and American Tree Farm System certifiable. There is also a nominal annual fee for membership in the Center. In all cases the costs are developed to make certification possible and are kept as low as possible to enable everyone that is interested in becoming a participating member to do so. Industrial and Public Owners
To decrease certification costs and improve the benefits you receive from certification your FSC® and ATFS certification is handled under the Center's group certificates significantly reducing costs. The costs associated with participation in the Center are based on the size of your forest and your need for assistance. If you have a forester(s) on staff they can participate in Center training to become Cooperating Foresters with the Center allowing them to efficiently develop certifiable management plans for your forest. Your fee is based on forest size. If you are in need of a forester the Center has Cooperating Foresters that you can select from that for a negotiated fee will develop management plans for your forests. There will also be an initial and annual fee to the Center based on the size of the forest to help offset the costs of the Center to maintain the group certificate.
