Management of the Center’s operations is overseen by the Director of Operations. The Director will have oversight of the Forest Management Section Administrator, Industry Section Administrator, and the Logging Section Administrator. The three administrators will be responsible for handling operations in their specific areas or sections. The main duties of the Section Administrators are to manage their respective group certification certificates and all activities associated with maintaining Group Members in that certificate. This includes but is not limited to conducting and overseeing internal audits of members, working with Certification Bodies and Group Members to resolve disputes, and conducting or setting up trainings for non-Center personnel involved in certification (Cooperating Foresters and Certified Master Loggers).

Managing partners are those entities that directly provide time and resources associated with active management of the Center. The managing partners are founding members of the Center or entities that the founding partners have asked to participate as a managing partner. Managing partners are added through sponsorship of a current managing partner and approval by at least two thirds of the voting current managing partners.

While the Center is housed at the University of Kentucky, Department of Forestry Extension and the day-to-day activities overseen by Forestry Extension personnel, the managing partners are in control of all strategic and management decisions for the Center, provide significant management services for Center activities, and are responsible for developing and administering Center policy.  The managing partners instruct the Director of Operations on the goals and overall operations of the Center. How do I become a managing partner?

Future managing partners must agree with the central mission of the Center for Forest and Wood Certification. Potential managing partners must be nominated by a current managing partners and be voted upon by all partners. At this time the Center is not actively seeking new managing partners.
